We’re going to try and explain how and why we’re now in the position where we have to charge you for the energy you use. 

Up until February this year our energy bills were fairly sensible but we’ve seen them increase every quarter this year. And now as winter approaches, we’ve received a further price hike. just in time for the heaters to come out. And we just can not absorb this any longer. We’ve seen our energy cost triple this year from 26p per unit to 88p per unit

From the 1st of November, we have no choice but to pass this cost along. We’ve decided the simplest and fairest way to do this is to charge you for what you use at the rate we pay for it. currently, as of the 18th September, we pay 50p per day standing charge and 88p per unit used. We will continue to absorb the standing charge but pass along the per unit used cost. 

This will be done by taking a meter reading when you arrive and another one when you leave. The difference is then charged at 88p per unit used. 

This way you are in control to a certain extent. You decide how many heaters you use and for how long. Below is a chart that explains how much the heaters will cost to run. And they are a big financial cost. The flash kit and LED lights are a fairly minimal draw on power. for example, a 2hour shoot using 2 flash heads recently used 2 units of energy a total of £1.76 on top of the hire rate. However, if they’d also used a single 2KW blow heater during their shoot it would have added an additional 4 units costing £3.52 for a total fee of £5.28. 

We appreciate that extra costs are not what people need right now but we are just trying to keep the studio open and this seems like the fairest way we can realistically do that. If we can get to a place where we can bring those costs down again we will. We have no intention of profiting off of this. 

This will apply to all new bookings for 1st november onwards from today 18th October 2o22
